February 2020 TBR
Hello everyone, this one is going to be relatively quick. I just want to go over my reading plans for February. I want to keep myself accountable for actually following through on my planned reading and this is one way for me to do so. Without further ado, here is my list for the month and I hope I succeed.
A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer- this is a reread. I loved this book the first time so I foresee no issues. The book is a beauty and the beast retelling, which is my kryptonite. I will read anything with that premise, as Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie ever.
Update: I have finished this book since I started writing this post
A Heart so Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer- Book two in the Cursebreaker series and the reason I’m rereading the first book I want to be prepared for the stress I can sense coming. I’m very excited to continue with this series.
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan- I confess, I have read this book a lot. It’s my go-to happy book. Not that the poor characters are necessarily happy, but I am so that’s more important. If you somehow missed what this book is about I will just say that it’s about sassy Demigods who are sarcasm goals. Also quests.
The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black- I will finish a series if it kills me. I want to finish it because I want to know what happens but I can see myself putting this book off for years because I don’t want it to be over. This is the third and final book in the Folk of the Air trilogy so I will give no synopsis. I have a book review up for the first two books. Go read them.
Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman- Not going to lie, I think I look forward to this one the most. I loved the first book in this trilogy so much, and I want to keep living in this world. Once again I desperately want to read it but I also don’t want it to end. Again I have a full review up for the first book so go read that.
The Great Pretender by Susannah Cahalan- My first non-fiction book of the month! How exciting is that? It’s exciting for me okay! Leave me alone. This book documents an experiment run by a Standford professor. In this experiment, the professor and seven other people, all perfectly healthy, checked themselves into asylums around the US. I want to know more.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen- I need a classic I know I love after the misfortune that was Rebecca. I read this book twice before and I know it brings me joy. I highly recommend everyone read it. If you need a chart make a chart.
Educated by Tara Westover- I only hear amazing things about this book. I don’t even know what it is about exactly. Sometimes I like to go into books blind and give myself a thrill. I know it’s a true story… and that’s pretty much it. Maybe I should read the summary?
The Assasin’s BladeI by Sarah J Maas- To finish this series this year, per my yearly reading goal, I have decided to reread the whole series so everything is fresh in my mind. I am also talking some friends into reading along with me so hopefully, I will have company. This is a collection of novellas, that yes you have to reread the rest of the series. They are relevant.
The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa- this series is so much fun. I need some fun. This is book two in the Iron Fay Series, I read the first book in January and have yet to post my review. I have it written and ready to go I just needed a pretty picture first. Keep an eye out.
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare- Because I fell behind on these books I am rereading the whole series from the top. It’s a classic in the YA Fantasy world and I have loved it for years. It’s the first book in this saga, and it does a lot of the world-building heavy lifting. I will post a full review I think just because I have thoughts still.
Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare- A double dose of Shadowhunters this month! I’m excited. I read halfway through this book and put it down, because I do that, for some reason and now its time to get back to it.
Illumine by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman- Look I have Sci-Fi on the list! It is once again a reread for me because I read the first two books then never picked up the third so I am committing and finishing it this year. This story is so much fun, yet it’s so thought-provoking. I can’t wait to go on this wild ride again.
Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky- I am so excited about this book. It’s a horror novel focused on imagination, at least as far as I can tell. We have the element of moving to a new place, small children, creepy voices, and creepy dark woods. Perfect. Now, let’s hope this seven hundred page brick is amazing!
Sky In the Deep by Adrienne Young- It’s February, so it’s technically the middle of winter still even though the weather is going crazy, so I wanted a wintery book. This being a Viking inspired story fits the bill nicely. I already read it, but I want to read it again. I need some of that kind of energy.
The Chain by Adrian McKinty- I was told this book is fabulous and creepy. The premise is simple, your child gets kidnapped and the only way to get him or her back is to kidnap a replacement child instead. I must know what happens.
The Duke and I by Julia Quinn- this is a regency romance, and I have already read it lol. I simply really enjoy this author’s sense of humor so I wanted something lighter. It’s also becoming a show soon. I consider this preparation. I will post a review because again I have thoughts.
Okay everyone, here we are. That’s my tentative list for February Reading. I really want to get through all of it, because there are so many books and so little time. And yes, I know I am rereading a lot of things but to me, that is the joy of a book. You can go back to it and experience it all over again in a different way. I love to analyze, and see what new ideas any given story sparks in my head. Now I am off to my cave to read because time is running out.
Love you all,
Anna
